Big Al's is a custom drum scanning and inkjet printing lab operated out of the studios of Alec Soth and Little Brown Mushroom. We specialize in working directly with artists, galleries, collectors, and museums.

Inkjet Printing

Our prints are made on Epson SC P-10000 and Epson 11880 printers, enabling us to print up to 60 inches wide on most surfaces. We offer printing on two price levels of paper: photo and premium. We stock Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper, Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag, Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique, and Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth.

We calculate print prices based on the square inch and paper type. Since all print jobs are custom, please email us for an estimate.

For those printing editions, our price list includes a significant discount for duplicate prints of the same image.

We make high resolution scans on a Heidelberg s3400 drum scanner and a Hasselblad Flextight X5 scanner. We can custom scan any film size from 35mm to 8x10. All scanning orders include file inversion and global exposure and color correction. Each scan is given to the client as a flattened RGB tiff file. Unfortunately we are not able to scan prints. We only scan film.

Our scanning prices are:

Drum Scans Price
35mm $50
120 $60
4x5 $100
5x7 $125
8x10 $150
Flextight Scans Price
35mm $30
120 $45
4x5 $65

All scans can be spotted (the removal of all dust and scratches) for $30/hr.
